“As I Recall…” :  The Liverpool Nautical Research Society Oral History Project

A new interview in our Oral History Project is now available in the members’ area of the website.  John Dennett talks to Willie Williamson about his wartime service onboard a tank landing ship.

At the outbreak of the Second World War, John enlisted in the Royal Navy, aged only 17.  He spent most of the war onboard a tank landing ship, LST 322, which took part in the landings on Sicily, and at Salerno and Anzio in Italy, before returning to Britain for the Normandy Invasion.

To view the interview, which comprises an audio recording supplemented by pictures, simply login with your username and password, and a new menu item ‘Oral History Project’ will become available under ‘Videos’ on the Main Menu at the top of every page.

We have already recorded a variety of interviews which will be published at monthly intervals, and are keen to hear from any member who would like to participate.  If you are interested, please contact us through the website or by email to: contactlnrs@gmail.com.
